"The 2007 Clos des Couchereaux is an extremely soil-driven young Beaune, as it offers up a really lovely aromatic mélange of cherries, blood orange, a nice touch of mocha, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and a complex base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is fullish, deep and tangy, with a juicy core of fruit, moderate tannins and great length and grip on the strikingly transparent and classy finish. While this already delicious to drink, I would be very inclined to give it at least four or five years in the cellar to allow all of its secondary layers to emerge on both the nose and palate. A delightful Clos des Couchereaux."
