"What is left to say about Poggio di Sotto's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino? Still an infant, the 2004 possesses a striking combination of finesse and power. Firm tannins and veins of bright acidity give the 2004 much of its pure, visceral drive. Rose petal, sweet red cherries, spices, mint and licorice are some of the notes that open up in the glass, but the 2004 remains a wine of structure. The 2004 is just as thrilling today, as it was on release. Actually, it is even better."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
