"Jean-Marie Fourrier makes one of the most elegant and refined examples of Combes aux Moines with which I am familiar, and the 2005 is equally brilliant with the two above wines. The bouquet is deep, strikingly pure and elegant, as it explodes from the glass in a blaze of sappy red and black cherries, plummy tones, a bit of licorice, incipient notes of grilled meats, dark chocolate, black minerality and a spicy high end. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and very pure, with lovely soil inflection, a rock solid core of fruit, tangy acids, fine-grained tannins, and outstanding length and grip on the complex and classy finish. Stunning juice that may eventually just edge out the Goulots and Champeaux."
