"The 1989 lâEnclos is really a lovely wine and clearly the finest vintage I have ever tasted from this estate. I have drunk it on and off over the years since the mid-1990s and it has never failed to impress, and this most recent bottle was really fine. The impressively complex bouquet offers up a classic Pomerol aromatic blend of plums, black cherries, chocolate, a bit of saddle leather, dark soil tones, a touch of fresh herbs, plenty of smokiness and a judicious base of toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and nicely broad-shouldered. With a good core of fruit, melting tannins and excellent focus and grip on the long and very well-balanced finish. Since its release, the 1989 lâEnclos has been one of the great sleepers of the vintage."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
A tiny, prestigious Right Bank appellation famed for opulent, velvety Merlot-based wines. Iron-rich clay soils yield some of the world's most coveted and concentrated reds.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
