"The inky colored 2013 Languedoc-La Clape Grand Vin offers tons of potential, yet is reserved and closed in at the moment and needs a year or two in bottle. Made from 55% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah, 10% Grenache and the balance Carignan, it has terrific notes of cassis and black raspberries intermixed with licorice, sweet oak and subtle minerality. Completely destemmed and aged in one-year-old barrels, this beauty is nicely concentrated, elegant and has medium-bodied weight and fine tannin . . ."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
A late-ripening red lending structure, dark fruit and gamey, meaty complexity to southern Rhone and Mediterranean blends.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
