"I love the upfront, sexy and polished 2013 Fenix, which is the estateās Merlot-dominated blend. Incorporating 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, this full-bodied beauty gives up loads of plum, chocolate, smoked herbs and underbrush in a rich, mouth-filling, hard to resist style. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years. This Ballard Canyon estate pulls from estate vineyards, and the wines are made by Matt Dees, who's unquestionably one of the most talented winemakers in the central coast. The 2013s are all gorgeous wines that shows the more structured, age-worthy side to the vintage (which is the MO at this estate) and will benefit from short term cellaring. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to taste any 2014s, but I'll do my best to review these as soon as they're in bottle."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
A deeply colored, tannic Bordeaux blending grape adding color, structure and floral, spicy complexity in small proportions.
