"Whereas the 2001 Stone Place was a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, the 2002 is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The style of owner/winemaker Pam Starr is based on balance, finesse, elegance and haunting purity of flavor. She appears to have achieved all of those characteristics with the 2002 Stone Place. It possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers, loamy soil, forest floor, creme de cassis, black cherries and a hint of plums. This wine reveals plenty of density, but it is its elegance, balance and overall ethereal quality that set it apart from many of its peers. Enjoy it over the next 10-15 years as it seems to be inching toward full maturity."
