"Harmony, complexity, and nuance as well as sweet tannin are found in the 2003 Califa-Syrah Chamisal Vineyard. Its dense blue/purple color is followed by a deep, full-bodied, layered, impressively-endowed Syrah with a sweet, smoky bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberries, road tar, and flowers. As the wine sat in the glass, a hint of bacon fat also emerged."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
