"The big wines from Mark Herold are his Cabernet Sauvignons, and these are a lot more expensive and far richer and more intense. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Herold is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (575 cases). A classic 2012, showing plenty of crème de cassis, blackberry, charcoal and graphite notes, the wine is full-bodied with sweet toasty, high-quality French oak and a long, layered multidimensional mouthfeel. An impressive wine . . . . Herold, who was a research oenologist at Joseph Phelps Vineyards 1996-2003, has been on his own now for more than a decade."
