"The 1987 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most impressive of the 1980s wines at Salvioni. Beams of underlying salinity and acidity give the 1987 noticeable freshness. Red cherry jam, anise, crushed flowers and licorice add nuance, but the 1987 is mostly remarkable for its freshness and exceptional balance. Even today, the 1987 retains surprising acidity to balance the fruit and overall structure. In a word: magnificent."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
