"Ripe plums, balsam herbs and hints of brown spice create a rich and darkly alluring display as the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva opens in the glass. This is deeply textural, featuring ripe red and black fruits contrasted by salty minerals and brisk acids, as fine tannins mount under an air of violets and tobacco. It tapers off persistent and lightly structured, leaving inner rose and hints of mocha and black licorice. While you can pick up a bit of the warmth of Castelnuovo dell'Abate here, Collosorbo did a fantastic job of finding a lovely balance from the 2016 Riserva."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
