"The 2005 Barbaresco Bricco is one of the better wines I have tasted here in some time. An exciting array of wild cherries, licorice, tar and smoke flow from the glass as this masculine Barbaresco opens to reveal the full breadth of its personality. This part of Neive is known for yielding big, structured wines, qualities this Barbaresco has in spades. The wine continued to develop beautifully in the glass, suggesting it is holding back much of its ultimate potential at this early stage. This is an outstanding effort. Anticipated maturity:2009-2020. Dante Rivetti is based in Bricco di Neive, a section of town that is renowned for yielding powerful Barbarescos."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces Nebbiolo of slightly more elegance and approachability than neighboring Barolo, offering perfume, finesse and firm structure.
Produces pale but powerfully tannic and perfumed reds with tar, rose and cherry notes. The grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, it is among the most age-worthy in the world.
