"A wine of total polish and sensuality, the 1971 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva caresses the palate with dark red stone fruits, wild cherries, flowers, smoke, licorice and distinctly ferrous notes. The 1971 isnât as big or powerful as the 1975, but it is a bit longer on the palate, more subtle and extremely refined. Crushed flowers, tobacco, mint and dried cherries linger on the silky finish . . . . Tasted next to the 1975, the 1971 Riserva is quite a bit more feminine and delicate. It, too, only grows with time in the glass."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
