"Good medium-deep red. Black cherry, licorice, minerals and a whiff of violet on the nose. Energetic but youthfully tight, conveying a strong impression of saline minerality. Finishes with building firm tannins and lovely perfumed lift. This solidly structured wine will need patience but it has the verve to evolve gracefully and last. RĂ©gis Forey told me that his crop losses to frost in 2016 were greatest in PrĂ©meaux and that his vines in Clos Vougeot and EchĂ©zeaux were essentially spared. But at this point, he noted, he doesnât see any clear differences between his frosted and non-frosted wines. Forey, who started picking on the late side, on September 29, finds more red fruitsâespecially raspberryâthan black in his young â16s. He also finds these wines more minerally and taut than his â15s (he vinified most of his â16s with about 40% whole clusters). The earlier vintage has good structure and tannins for aging, but he noted that the â15s have been closing down in bottle in the last few months. Forey totally destemmed in 2015 âowing to big, tannic seeds: I did not want to make overly tannic wines.â Incidentally, I also got the impression that he prefers his â14s to his â15s âfor their typicity, mineral character and chiseled quality.â I should note that the samples I tasted from tonneaux had not yet been racked or sulfured."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
Arguably Burgundy's most exalted village, home to legendary Grand Crus. Its Pinot Noir is renowned for perfume, silk and sublime complexity.
2015 in Burgundy was warm and dry, yielding concentrated, powerful and opulent reds with ripe tannins from low yields; the whites are richer and generous, though some show comparatively lower acidity.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
