"The 2012 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard was made from the Old Wente clone, and spent time in 33% new oak. It reveals lots of poached pear, honeysuckle, and caramelized citrus characteristics, ripe acidity, medium to full body, and beautiful density as well as richness. The most opulent and lavishly constructed of these four Chardonnays, it should drink well for 5-6 years. Auteur is a small, high-quality winery founded in 2003 by Kenneth Juhasz. The 2012 offerings appear to be the finest wines Auteur has yet made. Moreover, their new packaging is a major upgrade in aesthetics."
