"The 2017 Durfort-Vivens is fabulous, not to mention one of the under the radar gems of the year. Rich and explosive in feel, the 2017 possesses tremendous intensity in every direction. Sweet floral notes, cedar, mint and spice add shades of nuance as this potent, vertically built Margaux opens up in the glass. In 2017, severe frost took with it 35% of the production. The fruit that survived produced an epic, marvelously rich Durfort-Vivens. Don't miss it."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
The Left Bank appellation prized for perfumed, silky and elegant Cabernet-based wines. Gravel soils yield claret of aromatic finesse and refinement.
2017 in Bordeaux was marked by damaging April frost that cut yields; unaffected vineyards made fresh, classically styled wines of moderate weight and charm, generally accessible early and best over the medium term.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
