"The 2014 The Banshee comes from two sites (Torrin and Kruse Vineyards) and checks in as a blend of 50% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre and 24% Grenache aged 18 months in 300- and 400-liter puncheons. It offers lots of peppery herbs and earthy dark fruits, full-bodied richness, lots of meatiness, ripe, polished tannin and a great finish. It's a big, balanced, straight up terrific red that's going to drink nicely for over a decade. Another estate Iâve raved about for years is Viquel and Scott Hawleyâs Torrin Vineyard. These are unquestionably big, rich, Paso-styled wines, but they continue to get more and more elegance into their wines, while not sacrificing texture and richness. These latest 2014s are sensational. In addition, while I couldnât taste the wines, theyâve also started a new Lagom label focused on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
A late-ripening red lending structure, dark fruit and gamey, meaty complexity to southern Rhone and Mediterranean blends.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
