"The 2011 Chianti Classico is the first wine I have tasted from Ca' di Pesa, a small estate in Panzano. Waves of intensely spiced dark red and black fruit hit the palate in a rich, full-bodied wine loaded with personality. The warm, resonant quality of the vintage comes through loud and clear in a voluptuous, deeply intriguing Chianti Classico. There is a purity to the fruit that is simply striking, even with all of the French oak. The estate's Chianti Classico is already a fabulous wine, but it could be so much more than that with a little more attention to cooperage. The provenance of the fruit is undoubtedly top flight."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
The historic heart of the Chianti zone, producing Sangiovese-based reds of bright cherry fruit, savory herbs and firm structure.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
