"The 2016 Chianti Classico is powerful and intense, especially within the context of a year that producer lighter, more aromatic wines. Then again, we are in Panzano, where the wines have a natural breadth to them. The 2016 at Ca' di Pesa is very pretty, but it also needs time to develop aromatic complexity. Even so, the purity of the fruit here is striking. Vivid and nuanced, the 2016 is a gorgeous and distinctive wine from Ca' di Pesa. Don't miss it. Located in Panzano's Conca d'Oro, Ca' di Pesa is one of the most intriguing small estates in Tuscany. This year, I especially liked the straight 2016 Chianti Classico, which is a wine of real distinction."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
The historic heart of the Chianti zone, producing Sangiovese-based reds of bright cherry fruit, savory herbs and firm structure.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
