"The 1994 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna del Sorbo is remarkable. Incredibly dark, intense and powerful for a wine of its age, the 1994 impresses for its purity and vibrancy. Dark cherry and plum notes meld into cloves, leather and licorice on the exceptionally polished finish. Let's just say readers who still own the 1994 are going to be thrilled. What a wine! The 1994 isn't as big as some other vintages; rather it is a wine of total and impeccable finesse. Giovanni Manetti describes 1994 as a warm vintage with a lot of light, but rain just before harvest diluted the wines a bit. Maybe. Today, the 1994 is exceptionally beautiful."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
The historic heart of the Chianti zone, producing Sangiovese-based reds of bright cherry fruit, savory herbs and firm structure.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
