"The Pajoré is the most complete of these 2007 Barbarescos. Sweet baking spices, menthol, minerals and new leather lead to a powerful core of dark fruit. This is a massive, powerful Pajoré endowed with tons of fruit and the commensurate tannic structure that will allow it to age gracefully for many years. As is often the case, I am drawn in by the sepia-toned, balsamic nuances that are layered so beautifully into the wine's fabric. This is an utterly beguiling, large-scaled Barbaresco that will require patience. Sottimano's 2007 Barbareschi have been impressive every time I have tasted them, starting from barrel a few years ago, to two tastings from bottle in recent months. Readers owe it to themselves to check out these exceptional, beautiful hand-crafted wines."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces Nebbiolo of slightly more elegance and approachability than neighboring Barolo, offering perfume, finesse and firm structure.
Produces pale but powerfully tannic and perfumed reds with tar, rose and cherry notes. The grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, it is among the most age-worthy in the world.
