It exhibits a dense purple color, sweet blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with notions of licorice, camphor and toast. Full-bodied, dense, opulent and fleshy . . . . 2012 was the first vintage for Hourglass’s new winemaking consultant, Tony Biagi, whom I got to know well while he was making wines at Plumpjack winery. Hourglass produces a line of Blue Line wines, which are less expensive. The Blue Line cuvées come from vineyards situated close to the Three Palms and Switchback Ridge vineyards.
