"The 2010 L'Esprit Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Millésime is 100% stainless steel-fermented Chardonnay from the crus Le Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Cramant. Disgorged in November with a dosage of 4.7 grams, this intensely golden-yellow colored Esprit de 2010 is very complex on the nose; there are iodine flavors along with candied lemons, shortly stewed apples and a touch of nougat. Round and complex, but light and delicate on the palate, this is an extraordinary Champagne with a firm structure and a long, grippy, tension-filled finish. This is highly recommended. Rodolphe Péters holds 18 hectares of vineyards predominantly in the grand cru of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger ,but also in Oger, Avize and Cramant, has launched a new cuvée called L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor Edition MK.09. Based on 2009, this is a spectacular blend of Les Chétillons and perpetual reserve wines from his solera. Equipped with an artistic label (which comes out much better on the magnum), this is fascinating Le Mesnil Grand Cru."
