"This is decidedly tighter and more reserved aromatically but also slightly riper as Les Veleys almost always achieves a high degree of phenolic maturity with a mix of red, blue and black berry aromas that introduce earthy, concentrated and full-bodied flavors that possess ample dry extract and outstanding length on the almost chewy but not rustic finish. This is impressive and in terms of the character of the wine, is the bookend to the Saumonts as the les Veleys is a well-muscled and robust wine whereas the Saumonts is a wine of finesse. A qualitative choice."
