"A new wine in this range, the 2017 Nizza Bric del Marchese expresses all of the natural richness of the year. Inky dark fruit, mocha, spice, licorice and melted road tar all meld together in this sumptuous Barbera. The 2017 is not at all heavy or overdone, as was sometimes the case in this portfolio in the past. It is beautifully done. Sadly, there are just 2,000 bottles of it to go around."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
