"Ferrando's 2013 Carema Etichetta Nera is a total knock-out. Deep and fleshy (within the context of the appellation) the 2013 offers superb palate depth to balance some of the more floral, savory and mineral-driven overtones that are so typical of this wine. The new oak influence – always the Achilles heel of the Etichetta Nera – has come down, which allows the fruit to really shine through. Hints of macerated cherry, sweet tobacco, kirsch, rosewater and sage add lovely dimensions of nuance. The 2013 is easily one of the best editions of the Etichetta Nera I have tasted in some time. Don't miss it."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces pale but powerfully tannic and perfumed reds with tar, rose and cherry notes. The grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, it is among the most age-worthy in the world.
