""The 2015 Percarlo, the estate's 100% Sangiovese, towers in the glass with huge, dark fruit to match its powerful, vertical structure. Ample and expansive on the palate, with huge textural depth, the 2015 is a total stunner. The darker, more muscular side of Sangiovese emerges in this gorgeous, absolutely stunning wine. Black cherry, lavender, spice and smoke overtones fill out the wine's big frame effortlessly. Proprietor Luca Martini di Cigala aged the 2015 in a combination of cask and tonneau. The 2015 Percarlo is a riveting wine readers will not want to miss. Readers should do whatever they can to get a few bottles of the 2015s from San Giusto a Rentennano. Luca Martini di Cigala turned out an extraordinary set of wines that hit peaks of profoundness in the Percalo and Ricolma, both of which are truly epic. Martini di Cigala describes 2015 as a year with extreme heat in the summer. Temperatures soared for forty days in a row until 100mm of rain fell during three rain events in August. Grapes were highly concentrated, with thick skins and little juice. As for the wines, well, they are simply extraordinary. Over the last few years, French oak influence has come down in favor of casks. Today, San Giusto a Rentennano is firmly ensconced as one of the great estates, not just of Italy, but the world."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
