"The Domaine Roty bottling of Champs Chenys is lovely in 2009, offering up a deep and seductive nose of black cherries, plums, venison, coffee, a fine base of soil, mustard seed and spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite plush on the attack, with lovely complexity and mid-palate depth, ripe tannins and excellent length and grip on the quite soil-driven finish. I very much like the combination here in 2009 of plump, pure fruit and superb soil definition. A very classy Gevrey AC."
