"The 2006 Heart Stone Vineyard is impossible to ignore, with a savory blend of cherry sauce, grilled herbs, dried citrus peels and crushed fall leaves. It's wonderfully refined and energetic on the palate. Zesty citrus accentuates a sweet and sour blend of red and black fruits. Its tannins are perfectly resolved, yet the 2006 remains full of tension. Tart cherry and earth tones resonate on and on. In 2006, the Heart Stone Vineyard is a blend of 38% Syrah, 36% Grenache and 26% Mourvèdre. It is impossible to travel and taste in Paso Robles without hearing the name Saxum repeatedly. Simply stated, Saxum placed the region on the map and continues to turn out one of its top wine portfolios year after year. Many winemakers got their start working with Justin Smith, owner and winemaker, while many others source fruit from vineyards that he or his father designed and planted."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
A late-ripening red lending structure, dark fruit and gamey, meaty complexity to southern Rhone and Mediterranean blends.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
