"The 2009 Corbeaux was really singing at the time of my visit. The classy and vibrant nose offers up a mix of red and black cherries, cocoa, a touch of gamebird, a lovely base of soil, mustard seed, coffee and a discreet framing of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and classy, with fine-grained tannins, lovely focus and impressive length and grip on the nascently complex finish. This is a much more “feminine” rendition of Corbeaux than Denis Bachelet’s, for instance, but nonetheless a superb bottle of premier cru in the making. It will drink a few years sooner than the Combottes here, and should prove to be a stunning bottle at its apogee."

2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
