"A step up over the 2014 (the last vintage I've tasted), the 2016 Clon De La Familia is a tiny production cuvée based on Tempranillo brought up in French oak. It has a classy nose of ripe red and black fruits as well as oak, licorice, lead pencil, and Asian spices. Rich and medium to full-bodied, it has a ripe but not over-the-top style, wonderful balance, and enough tannins and concentration to allow it to evolve for two decades or more. It's a gorgeous wine.":

Spain's noble red grape, producing structured, savory wines of red fruit and leather that respond beautifully to oak aging in Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
