"In 2017, a hail storm destroyed much of Clos Saint Josephâs red grapes. Half of this bottling comes from grapes from Clos Saint Josephâs vines. The other half comes from donations of grapes from a large group of Provenceâs top growers (an organization called Rouge Provence, intended to create solidarity among growers and promote Provenceâs historic red wines) including Domaine Tempier, Domaine Hauvette, and Domaine de la Tour du Bon. All these grapes come from different AOCs (Bandol, Coteaux de Baux, Coteaux dâAix, Coteaux Varois, CĂŽtes de Provence), which is why the wineâs designation is I.G.P MĂ©diterranĂ©e instead of CĂŽtes de Provence."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
A late-ripening red lending structure, dark fruit and gamey, meaty complexity to southern Rhone and Mediterranean blends.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
