"Dark, bright red. Deep aromas of raspberry, smoke and rose petal. Silky, sweet and utterly seamless; perfectly harmonious from the start ("very Zen," says Fourrier). Wonderfully perfumed raspberry and floral flavors carry through the rising, palate-saturating finish, which features outstanding crushed-stone lift. This is 2010-like in its balance of fruit intensity and piquant minerality. Fourrier told me he was the first to pick among the five owners of Clos Saint-Jacques in 2013, bringing in his fruit on October 4."

The Cote de Nuits' largest Grand Cru commune, producing powerful, structured and deeply flavored Pinot Noir built for long aging.
2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
