"Bright, dark red. Highly expressive tangy scents of cherry, wild strawberry, pomegranate, crushed stone and mint. Superrich, tactile, dense and chewy yet light on its feet. Conveys a powerful sense of dry extract and outstanding clarity and cut to its flavors of raspberry, cherry and minerals. The 2014 version shows riper, blacker fruits while this is more about acidulated wild red berries. Wonderfully silky, smooth wine with outstanding energy and thrust. The wine's powerful fruit blows past its refined tannins on the palate-staining finish. Splendid. 'The 2013s have force and energy and will last a long time,' said Bruno Clavelier in November. 'But the flesh is also there and the tannins are noble.' Clavelier believes that while the 2014s may always be tasty and charming, the 2013s are likely to shut down. The two 2013 premier crus I tasted were knockoutsâand more red fruit in character than the 2014s."

2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
