"Notes of bacon fat, flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, and charred wood jump from the glass of the 2003 Syrah Cuvee Keltie. No new oak is utilized, but 100% stems are used in the production of this big, tannic monster . . . . It comes across as a hybrid version of a ripe northern Rhone and a classic, rich, concentrated Syrah from California. This beauty is best cellared for another 1-3 years, and drunk over the following 10-12."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
