"It's hard to believe, but the 1995 Geyserville Proprietary Red Wine is winemaker Paul Draper's thirtieth consecutive vintage of this wine. Although outstanding, the backward 1995 (a blend of 62% Zinfandel, 18% Petite Sirah, 15% Carignan, and 5% Mataro) needs 1-2 years of cellaring. It is a deep ruby/purple-colored wine with an earthy, spicy, blackcurrant, and plum-scented nose with pepper in the background. Full-bodied, powerful, and muscular, with a broodingly unevolved style, this is a generous, well-made, exceptionally long Zinfandel-dominated wine that should evolve into one of the most interesting wines of the vintage. It is not for those seeking understated wines given its 14.2% alcoholic strength."
