"The 2014 Les St. Georges chez Gouges is far more reserved in profile this year than any of the other premier crus, but it too shows off the profound elegance of the vintage and will be a great wine in the fullness of time. The utterly classic nose wafts from the glass in a blend of sweet dark berries, cassis, graphite, complex minerality, espresso, a touch of new oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a fine, soil-driven personality, excellent purity and focus and a very long, ripely tannic and youthful finish."

2014 in Burgundy is a benchmark white vintage, tense, fresh and mineral, though Cote de Beaune hail cut yields; the reds are balanced and classically proportioned, with good freshness and medium-term aging potential.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
