"The deep ruby/purple-colored 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker's Reserve displays plenty of spice box, fruitcake, and black currant fruit intermixed with all-spice, toasty oak, and weedy tobacco. Sweet (from extract, not sugar) on the attack, this full-bodied wine reveals copious quantities of glycerin, fruit, and extract. A beauty, it has managed to avoid the hard tannin exhibited by some 1996s."
