"The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is all about understatement and balance. Crushed flowers, raspberries and spices all emerge from this gorgeous, soft-textured wine. Notes of underbrush, tobacco and tar add further complexity on the mid-palate as the wine opens to reveal outstanding length and complexity. This is truly a remarkable effort, particularly in the way the tannins are so seamlessly integrated into the wine. While the 2003 Brunello doesnât quite reach the level of his superb 2001, this wine should be on readersâ short lists of wines to seek out in 2003. It is a commendable effort in every way."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
