The 2004 Diana Madeline is minty and plush, with raspberry and aniseed, wet slate and graphite, coffee grounds and nori. The wine has an abundance of rocks and flowers, with delicate length that goes on long beyond the wine in the mouth. There are some meaty suggestionsâpastrami and hung deli meatâthrough the finish to accompany the lighter, more herbal aspects of the wine. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Renowned for powerful, richly fruited Shiraz, most famously from the Barossa Valley, alongside age-worthy Cabernet and cool-climate whites. A warm climate and old, ungrafted vines produce wines of generosity and depth.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
