"Bright red. Heady perfume of ripe red and dark berries, Asian spices and potpourri, plus a smoky mineral overtone. Juicy, seamless and concentrated, offering alluringly sweet raspberry and cherry-cola flavors sharpened by a peppery spice note. This extremely suave, sharply focused Pinot finishes with smooth tannins and outstanding clarity and length. One of the clear stars of this wonderful vintage. Jim Arterberry, who grew up on his family's 120+-acre property and is now the third generation of Arterberries to make wine here, has attained an admirable level of accomplishment at the young age of 30. And while he's perhaps best known for his superb Chardonnays his Pinots are also outstanding. Arterberry cranks out a surprisingly large quantity of graceful, balanced wine from his small, efficiently laid-out winery on the estate and most of it is sold via mailing list at extremely fair prices for the quality. New oak is kept to a minimum here, "to let the fruit come through as much as possible" and also because Arterberry 'can't stand barrel tannins.'"
