The 2009 Branco is principally a blend of Arinto, Fernao Pires and Vital, with an unspecified âsmaller proportionâ of Chardonnay. Coming in at very modest prices, this is often a nice entry level wine if drunk and encountered young. Straightforward, it tends not to stay at peak long, but it can be a decent value choice. Bright and tasty, clean and crisp with lemon-y nuances, this is an elegant wine this year with some substance and nice intensity of flavor. It wonât last long at peak. Drink it this summer and sip it on the porch.

Best known for fortified Port from the Douro Valley, Portugal also produces distinctive dry reds from native grapes such as Touriga Nacional. Its dramatic terraced vineyards and blending traditions give the wines a singular identity.
