Bodegas Atalaya Laya 2021, 0.75L
Red Blend from Almansa, Castilla La Mancha

“The 2021 Laya was produced with 70% Garnacha Tintorera and 30% Monastrell, looking for a fruit-driven and easy to drink red with 14.5% alcohol, ripe fruit and a soft texture. 2021 was warmer than the average but with some cold spells, especially the one in January called Filomena that brought lots of snow, despite which, it was also a dry year and they got up to 40% less grapes. This fermented in stainless steel vats with neutral yeasts, with malolactic in barrel, where the wine matured for four months. This shows some toasty oak, but it might be because it's too young and very recently bottled. But vintages seem to take oak differently; they believe this will show as integrated as the 2020. Time will tell. In any case, it's a wine for the short term, and it's very good for what it is. 360,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.” 90, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2022

Dominio de Anza/Diego Magaña Bierzo Tinto Selección de Parcelas 2020, 0.75L
Mencía / Bastardo / Garnacha Tintorera from Bierzo, Castilla Y Leon

I found earthier notes and a darker aromas in the 2020 Dominio de Anza Selección de Parcelas, a common thing in the 2020s, perhaps a little reductive. In 2020, part of the wine comes from a new plot on slate soils in the village of San Lorenzo, and perhaps it has some notes reminiscent of a Barolo. The profile of the wine has changed: it's not as aromatic as the 2019, and it has a different texture with more noticeable tannins. This 15% of the wine from a different zone and soil has changed it. It might require more time. 8,900 bottles produced. 94 Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Cabernet Sauvignon from Sardón de Duero, Castilla y León

"2018 was a cooler year with more rain and higher yields, and the 2018 Selección Especial—77% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 1% Merlot, 0.8% Petit Verdot and 0.3% Garnacha—shows very harmonious and better integrated oak than the 2017. Despite having similar analytical data, the wine comes through as fresher, more balanced, more fluid and with a finer texture given the quality of the tannins. 532,607 bottles produced. It was bottled in May and June 2020." 93, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2021

Bodegas Antidoto La Hormiga 2021, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“The 2021 La Hormiga is a 100% Tempranillo from old vines in Soria, Ribera del Duero. Aged for ten months in French oak barrels, it's garnet in the glass with a purple sheen. On the nose, you'll find notes of black cherry, crushed plum and a touch of arugula against an oaky backdrop. The palate is dry, taut and structured with finely-grained tannins and a juicy finish. This is an intense red from Ribera del Duero.” 93, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Sep 2023

Bodegas Antidoto Ribera del Duero 2023, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“Made with Tinto Fino grapes from 700 parcels in Soria, this is a very good introduction to the joys of this easternmost province of Ribera del Duero. Adroitly matured in 25% new oak, it has plenty of perfume, a hint of stony reduction, bramble, vanilla and blackberry fruit and graceful, layered tannins.” 91, Tim Atkin MW, Nov 2024

Descendientes de Jose Palacios Corullón 2022, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

“The bottled village red 2022 Corullón was produced with grapes from around 90 different plots and had a short élevage of eight months in barrel. It is 93% Mencía, 4% Jerez (Palomino), 2.5% Alicante Bouschet and 0.5% Gran Negro bottled at 13.5% alcohol. It's floral and aromatic, but compared with the more-austere 2023, it comes through as more generous, riper and a little gentler, with more fruit but with elegance and freshness that nobody expected during the torrid summer and harvest. It keeps the freshness and poise, with fine-grained tannins”. 96, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2024

Dominio de Pingus Ribera del Duero PSI 2022, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“The 2022 PSI is clean, expressive and open, much more approachable than the more reductive 2021 that I tasted next to it. It's primary, fruit-driven and precise. "The fruit selection was better in 2022," explained Sisseck. It has contained ripeness and a polished texture and is sleek and elegant, with fine tannins. It feels like a step up from 2021. This was also the final blend waiting to be bottled—clarified, sulfur added and everything, so pretty much the wine that is going to be bottled.” 93-95, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2024

"Full ruby. Spice- and smoke-accented cherry and dark berry scents show very good energy and focus. Blackberry, bitter cherry and candied licorice on the palate, along with suggestions of dark chocolate and succulent herbs. Gently sweet and chewy on the palate, offering intense black currant, cherry and spicecake flavors braced by an undercurrent of juicy acidity. Vega Sicilia Reserva Especial Unico (2022 Release) NV, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“Sweet-berry, walnut, licorice and violet aromas that follow through to a full body with round, chewy tannins that are polished and beautiful. Notes of iron, too. The tannins are broad and mouth filling, giving a caressing and exciting texture on the palate. If you give this a year to two to soften, it will deliver even greater richness and flavor. A blend of 2008, 2010 and 2011.” 99, James Suckling, Sep 2021

“The NV Único Reserva Especial 2022 Release is a blend of wines from 2008, 2010 and 2011, mostly Tinto Fino with some Cabernet Sauvignon mixing lots from the Único wines from those years. In the past, the blend was older vintages, but now it's wines that are around the same age as the Único. It has the complexity of mixing terroirs, vintages and grapes with parameters very similar to Único, 14.5% alcohol and good balance with a pH of 3.83 and 5.4 grams of acidity (measured in tartaric acid per liter). In the blend, they look for keeping the style of past blends, combining the more aged notes of the older wines and the freshness of the younger ones. I was very pleasantly surprised by the performance of this Reserva Especial, which seems to be going back to the character of the blends from yesteryear, with more finesse, elegance and nuance. This is perfumed, elegant, harmonious and balanced. It has very fine, already polished tannins and integrated acidity. 2008 and 2010 are cooler years, and they seem to give the blend this freshness and elegance. It has all the components, and especially the balance between all of them, to age nicely in bottle. 16,961 bottles and 201 magnums were filled in June 2018.” 98, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Dec 2021

“The Unico Reserva Seleccion Especial has become a cult, and no wonder. As Pablo Alvarez says: ‘It’s the most Vega Sicilia of them all.’ The 2022 release, a blend of the complexity of 2008, the structure of 2010 and the freshness of 2011 is far more than the sum of its parts. Floral with red apples and roses on the nose. In the mouth a firm grip, juicy, textured, a wine that is comfortably settled into itself. Not a very technical tasting note perhaps, but accurate: thoroughly enjoyable.” 97, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter, Jul 2021

Vega Sicilia Unico 2003, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“Almost 20 years on from the vintage and this Único is full of life, with perfumed aromas and a fresh, textured palate with well-integrated tannin. It was a famously hot year (though the Vega Sicilia notes only say that the summer was warm), but despite that it has avoided cooked fruit. Full and fleshy with a savoury finish - a surprise, given the year. Mild, frost-free spring, warm summer without rains, then a cold harvest in late September. 25 months in large-capacity wooden vats, 17 months in new barrels, 10 months in semi-new barrels, then 22 months back in large-capacity wooden vats. Aged in bottle then released in 2013. 76,050 bottles, 2,616 magnums, 150 double magnums and six Imperials. Tasted from magnum.” 96, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter, Sep 2022

“Showing some grilled-meat, dried-mint and savory olive notes with balsamic, sour cherries and nutmeg. Polished and velvety on the palate, with a full body and firm, caressing tannins. Rich and delicious combination of ripe fruit, chocolate and savory olive notes throughout, with a fleshy finish. 92% tempranillo and 8% cabernet sauvignon. Tasted from magnum.” 96, James Suckling, Sep 2022

“2003 was the year of the "canicule" in Europe, an extremely warm summer that made Germans acidify their Rieslings and saw Bordeaux with 40 degrees Celsius during Vinexpo. In that context, the 2003 Único showed surprisingly well. It's tannic, serious and austere, a little in the style of 2005. It's mainly Tempranillo with 8% of Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% alcohol with a warm nose and a softer palate, gentler compared with 2005. 2,616 magnums produced.” 94+, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2023

Vega Sicilia Unico 2013, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"This has a polished and complex nose of poached plums, dark cherries, tea leaves, graphite, milk chocolate and a touch of caramel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm yet creamy tannins. Caressing, seductive and ripe, but with underlying freshness. 97% tempranillo and 3% cabernet sauvignon. Tasted from magnum. The normal bottle will be released 2023 and the magnum in 2025. Try after 2023." 98, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"The wine is subtle, elegant and fresh, complex, silky and with precision. The wine matured in 225-liter barrels in an initial phase and then in 22,000-liter oak vats until it was bottled in June 2019. This year, the final blend was 97% Tinto Fino and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon with a little less alcohol, 14%, and a pH of 3.78 and 5.2 grams of acidity, fresh and balanced, more elegant and subtler. Único often transcends the character of the vintage and doesn't follow the norm in the region, and the 2013 is a good example of that. It was a very rainy and complicated vintage; they harvested quite quickly to avoid botrytis, and while other people waited for concentration, they did not, and their approach clearly paid back. It's aromatic and floral, less dense than the 2012, subtler, more expressive and more elegant. It's clean and fresh, tasty, with very fine tannins. It's a big surprise for the vintage and one of the finest Únicos in the last few years." 97, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Vega-Sicilia Alion 2019, 1.5L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"Ripe, tarry plums and black cherries with violets, rocks, coffee and graphite. Refined notes of balsamic fruit and cocoa powder, too. Full-bodied and juicy with an iron fist of tannins, yet at the same time so velvety and polished. Very long, focused finish, showing lots of finesse and layers." 95, James Suckling, Jun 2022

“The 2019 Alión was cropped from a drier vintage compared with the average, and the wines from that year tend to be powerful, concentrated and with structure. They shortened the maceration by 11 days and used concrete for part of the élevage, trying to reduce the impact from the oak in the wine. They define 2019 as a powerful, concentrated and juicy vintage, sensual and unctuous. The wine is ripe at 15% alcohol and has mellow acidity (4.4 grams) and a pH of 3.88, reflecting the warm and dry year that delivered powerful and concentrated wines, similar to the wines from 2015. It's quite fruit-driven, ripe and juicy, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins despite the limited pumping over they did to avoid extracting too much, and the maceration was also shortened. 256,526 bottles, 7,005 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in June 2021.” 94, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2023

“Purple depths. More sophisticated, complex nose than Pintia 2018 just tasted. But sweet, black-fruited palate and some dryness on the end. Not the most refreshing or succulent.” 16, Jancis Robinson, Jan 2023

Vega-Sicilia Alion 2020, 1.5L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

“2020 was drier than average until the harvest, when it rained and diluted the grapes, and they had to wait to regain concentration. The result is that the 2020 Alión is a wine with better balance and freshness. They felt the skins were very ripe and they could extract more and use a little more American oak (4%) in the élevage. From 2019, they kept the press wine separate until June, and they keep separate quantities of press wines that are aged in different containers depending on the quality of the wine. They used a percentage of concrete and oak vats for the élevage, which gives the wine more verticality and freshness. It's a subtle and elegant Alión, not as dense as some other vintages, but with nice balance and very elegant tannins. In 2020, they produced 285,485 bottles of this wine, 7,115 magnums and some larger formats. It was bottled in May 2022.” 95, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2024

“There’s a finesse and polish to this red with blackberries, black olives, iron and terra-cotta. Medium to full body, with slightly chewy tannins and a savory finish. It will soften nicely with time.” 94, James Suckling, Aug 2023

Vega-Sicilia Unico 2012, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Ribera del Duero , Castilla y León

"I like the intensity to this, with dark tar and smoky notes followed by graphite, tobacco, bitter cacao and dark fruit. Powerful yet tight and compact, with firm and polished tannins. Structured and so long. Tasted from magnum." 97, James Suckling, Sep 2022

“This is at once fresh and elegant on first impression, with lovely hints of fragrant Turkish bazaar spices, game and dried mint lacing the crème de cassis, violet, and black and red licorice notes. Gliding across the palate, buoyed by fresh acidity and sculpted tannins, this expands to show deep notes of tarry smoke, fig cake, espresso and iron alongside the appealing fruit and spice. Long and creamy, offering both power and grace. Tinto Fino and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2037. 7,349 cases made, 601 cases imported.” 96, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, Sep 2022

“The 2012 Único from magnum showed less ripe tannins in the context of other vintages like 2014 or 2004, as the year was very warm and dry and the plants got blocked and the tannins didn't ripen perfectly. There is a little more alcohol, and it's powerful but will always have a bit of rusticity. 3,537 magnums were filled in June 2018.” 95, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2023

Vinas Serranas El Canchorral 2019, 0.75L
Rufete from Castilla y León, Castilla y León

"The 2019 El Canchorral is a blend of Calabrés (Garnacha), Aragonés (Tempranillo), Verdejo Negro, Rufete Blanco, Palomino, Moscatel and other grapes planted 85 years ago on degraded pink granite soils. This is the only wine that ferments with 100% full clusters. It has a lot of white grapes and is more floral, with less alcohol (it's 13.5% even in this riper year), more acidity and a lower pH. It is more floral à la Fleury and very expressive, as they can use very low doses of sulfur in this wine given its higher natural acidity (possibly because of the white grapes). This comes from a very old vineyard, and the varieties feel very integrated and complement each other. It comes through as complex and nuanced, a little riper and showier than the 2018. The palate reflects the effect of the stems in the vinification a little. All of these single-vineyard wines matured in used oak barrels for some 15 months in 2019. Around 1,500 bottles were filled in May 2021." 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Vinedos del Jorco Las Enebradas Navalgordo 2017, 0.75L
Grenache from Paraje del Jorco, Castilla y León

"I was really looking forward to the 2017 Las Enebradas, because the first vintage, 2016, was the revelation of my last review of the zone of Gredos. I was quite surprised because the profile is very different: the wine has a lot more color and up to 2% more alcohol. Nacho Jiménez, one of the partners, explained that the profile of the 2016 vintage was exceptional and hard to replicate, as yields were higher and it rained just before they picked the grapes, so the wine is a lot lighter. 2017 was very different, a lot warmer and with lower yields, and the grapes delivered a concentrated juice with a lot more color, tannin and alcohol. It has a more Mediterranean profile, more in line with the rest of the wines. This fermented with 50% full clusters and temperature control and matured in one 500-liter oak barrel. Despite the higher ripeness and the headier character, the wines from Navatalgordo have a different texture and fine thread, the finesse of a cooler place and sandy soils at higher altitude (even if the vines are south-facing here), and you see it when tasting this next to the wines from Cebreros. It's more elegant and fresher. 570 bottles were filled in August 2019." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi Gratallops 2021, 0.75L
Grenache / Cariñena from Priorat, Catalunya

"The more backward of the 2021s was the 2021 Finca Dofí, which was very primary and smelled almost like the fermentation vessels, and it took time in the glass to open up. The blend is higher in Garnacha and they couldn't use the Picapoll, as it didn't work well that cool year, so it's 90% Garnacha, 9% Cariñena and 1% white grapes. It achieved 14.5% alcohol but kept better freshness than in 2020, a constant in the 2021 wines. Very promising..." 96-98 Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Clos Mogador 2020, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignan / Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon from Priorat, Catalunya

"The wine is more tannic and ... it matured exclusively in 2,000-liter oak foudre, and the impact of the wood is milder. A very good result, it's powerful but has good balance. The vintage is more tannic ..." 97 Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

"Founded in 1979, the 20ha Clos Mogador lies at 350m altitude , surrounded by mountains up to 1,200m. The vines here grow on slate soils and the 2020 wine is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 29% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented using 30% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts. The wine was aged entirely in 2,000L French oak foudres for 18 months before bottling. Beth Willard: A really dark and intense wine that speaks of the region. High-toned, perfumed notes and raspberry on the nose. Oak is well integrated. Big and rich, but with underlying elegance. Polished and serious. Diana Rollan: Dense and powerful nose with dark fruit, and notes of plum, black cherry, blueberries, sandalwood and dried herbs. Big and bold with pronounced tannins, but round and textured. David Williams: Complex nose with notes of blood orange, black cherry and Mediterranean herbs. Intensity but also drive on the palate; great mineral acidity, freshness." 95 Decanter Magazine

Bodegas Albamar 'Pepe Luis' Albariño 2022, 0.75L
Albariño from Rías Baixas, Galicia

"Xurxo Alba is a magician, a winemaker who knows how to tease the best out of old-vine Albariño on granite soils. This comes from five coastal parcels and is another triumph from a brilliant winemaker. Fermented with full malolactic before ageing in German and Austrian foudres, it has struck match, laurel and sea breeze aromas, mouth-watering acidity and lanolin and waxed lemon flavours.” 97, Tim Atkin MW, Dec 2024

"One of the great wines of the region, this has an expressive nose reminiscent of grapefruit and white flowers. The palate is really energetic, driven by texture and acidity. Envinate Lousas Vinas de Aldea 2022, 0.75L
Blend from Ribeira Sacra, Galicia

“The sample of the 2022 Lousas Viñas de Aldea was in stainless steel, blended and sulfured and waiting to be bottled in a couple of months. Most 2022s are more immediate than the 2021s, and this is floral, perfumed and expressive, with a juicy and round palate. They now have more vineyards in general, so they compensated the lower yields with more land under vine. The 2022s have turned out fresher and cooler than what the conditions of the year pointed out. There will be some 25,000 bottles of this. Even though it's a lower-yielding year, they had more vineyards.” 93-94, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Nov 2023

Guimaro Finca Meixeman Ribeira Sacra 2019, 0.75L
Mencia / Brancellao / Merenzao / Garnacha / Mouratón / Negreda / Sousón from Ribeira Sacra, Galicia

"The single-vineyard 2019 Finca Meixeman comes from one of their oldest vineyards, planted with a field blend of 80% Mencía and 20% Brancellao, Merenzao, Garnacha, Mouratón, Negreda and Sousón. It has an austere nose that benefitted from being in the glass for over one hour, so decanting in advance might be a good idea if you are going to pull the cork any time soon. It has subtle notes of violets and wild berries and herbs. It has 13% alcohol but, despite that, feels a little riper than the other 2019s, perhaps more approachable and gourmand. Quinta de Muradella Alanda Blanco 2021, 0.75L
Doña Blanca / Treixadura / Godello from Monterrei, Galicia

"The 2021 Alanda Blanco is a village wine from Monterrei, a blend of Dona Blanca, Treixadura and Verdello that reflects the diversity of soils, altitudes and expositions. The varieties fermented together, being added to the vat progressively, and 1,500-liters matured in a used French oak foudre for 15 months and the rest was kept in stainless steel. It's pale, young and austere, more about soil and rocks than fruit, with notions of wet granite and dry flowers. It has contained ripeness, 13% alcohol, very good acidity, freshness and balance, with a sense of purity and transparency that is common to all whites here. It has depth, energy and light and extra vibrancy this year. It could very well be the finest white Alanda to date. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023." 95, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Nov 2023

Alegre Valgañón Rioja Tinto 2021, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Rioja, La Rioja

“The 2021 Rioja regular bottling from Oscar Alegre and Eva Valgañón is made from a blend of tempranillo and garnacha from several different villages, with the idea to source the tempranillo from northern sectors ideally suited to this grape and to do the same for the garnacha, from the foothills to the south. The wine comes in at fourteen percent octane in 2021 and was given sixteen months aging in cask prior to bottling. It offers up a complex and nicely red fruity bouquet of raspberries, cherries, clove-like spice tones, a fine base of soil elements, cigar smoke, cedar and a nice touch of spiced meats from the garnacha in the blend. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and tangy, with excellent depth at the core, fine-grained tannins, lovely balance and a long, complex and very promising finish. This is an outstanding bottle in the making." 93, John Gilman, View From The Cellar, Jan 2024

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Crianza 2017, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

."The 2017 Crianza Señorío de P. Peciña is a blend of 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano and 2% Garnacha sourced from the Sonsierra area in Rioja Alta. Aged for 24 months in used American oak barrels, this garnet wine with a brick sheen features a nose of red apple peel and cherry, along with cedar, vanilla and hints of coconut and nutmeg. Dry, juicy and fairly rough due to its high volatile acidity, it lingers on the pronounced volatile notes, adopting an oxidized style." Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Dec 2023

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Reserva 2016, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

“I love the textbook nose of the 2016 Señorío de P. Peciña Reserva, as it is earthy, spicy and developed, with notes of leather and vanilla and a touch of smoke and brick dust. It has ripe fruit without excess and a medium-bodied palate with great balance and freshness. It has pungent flavors and is powerful and ripe without excess at 14.5% alcohol and with polished chalky tannins. This matured in American oak barrels for 36 months, during which time it was racked every six months. 42,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2020.” 93, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2024

CVNE Cune Rioja Reserva Imperial 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Graciano / Mazuelo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The red 2018 Imperial Reserva keeps the brand profile of finesse, precision and power, produced with grapes that were picked between October 8th and 26th in a year like in the past—cold, rain and snow followed by a warm summer. It's a blend of Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha that were put through optical sorting and fermented in oak vats with a 20-day maceration. It matured in barrel for 24 months. It's 14% alcohol and has a pH of 3.57. It's a textbook Reserva from Haro, fine-tuning the grapes they use here trying to control the power of this cuvée, which has to be powerful but keeping the freshness. This is quite young and lively, quite impressive, really very good, getting close to the complexity of a Gran Reserva but with the extra oomph of its youth. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021." 94, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jul 2022

Muga Reserva 2018, 0.375L

Abadia de Retuerta Pago Negralada 2015, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Sardon del Duero, Sardon del Duero

"Opaque ruby. Powerful, mineral-tinged red and dark berry preserve, potpourri and candied licorice scents, plus vanilla and baking spice nuances in the background. Sweet, seamless and expansive on the palate, offering densely packed black raspberry, blueberry, mocha and floral pastille flavors given lift and spine by a core of smoky minerality. Finishes extremely long and smooth, with slow-building tannins and lingering floral pastille and blue fruit preserve notes. Raised for 19 months in new French oak barrels. (Drink between 2022-2031)" 94, Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com

Bodega Mustiguillo Pago El Terrerazo Finca Terrerazo 2019, 0.75L
Bobal from El Terrerazo, Valencia

"... Fermented in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and a soft extraction, and it had an élevage in those containers of 18 months. There is a step up in precision here, quite noticeable when tasting it next to the 2018. It's subtle, elegant and insinuating. It was a very good vintage for this wine. In 2018, the vineyards suffered from hail, and the wine shows more clarity here, it's more transparent and pure, it has symmetry and very fine tannins. This has to be the finest Finca Terrerazo so far. 29,360 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021. They never stop at Mustiguillo." 94+, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate
