94 Points! The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot, with more Petit Verdot included this vintage because Hélène preferred the blend. Pouring a youthful saturated red/black hue, it offers blackcurrants, cedar, toast, black cherries, baked earth, and mocha. Full-bodied, with plush tannins, very good length, and admirable balance in this hot vintage, this wine is a clear step up from the Cabernet Franc in terms of refinement. - Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com
94 Points! So pure, fruity and appealing due to the ripe, welcoming flavors and fine-grained texture that's soothing on the palate. Black cherries, blackberries, dried blueberries and dark chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, rich in velvety tannins, leading to a lingering finish. Drink now or hold. - JamesSuckling.com

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.

I had no clue Anakota even made this wine.
The property is one of California’s finest. Tucked into the Knights Valley foothills of Mt. Saint Helena, just around the corner from their neighbor, Peter Michael, Anakota has been producing some of the most compelling Cabernet Sauvignon in the state since its inception in the late 1990’s.
100-Point Winemaker Pierre Seillan (of Verité fame) put this property on the map with a slew of 97–99-point wines produced from two specific sections of the vineyard, Helena Montana and Helena Dakota. These were the wines I was familiar with, and the only wines I saw in distribution for a long time.
But Anakota is a sizable site. What about the rest of the vineyard?
Grown in the volcanic soils of their estate-owned vineyards, the Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 embodies the entirety of the vineyard. The vines climb the southwest-facing slopes of 4,300ft. Mount St. Helena, and are surrounded by a wilderness of cold mountain streams and forests of native fir and oak. The message of that soil is conveyed in every bottle.
The wine was produced from several blocks on the property, Helena Montana 57%, Coyote Hills 28%, Franz Creek 9%, and finally a 6% kicker from their nearby Stonestreet Estate. The final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot aged 12 months in 25% new French oak barrels.

A very dark violet core shows the concentration and power imbued by the 2022 vintage. Aromas of sweet blackberry, ripe black currant, and freshly ground espresso are framed by bittersweet cocoa nib and very subtle baking spices. These richly dry flavors saturate the palate and are offset by pronounced minerality from the complex volcanic soils here.
The press certainly fell in love with this style...
