94 Points! Jane Anson considers the 2016 a standout vintage for this property, emphasizing its additional depth and structure, polished balance, generous black fruit, and chocolate notes. She particularly recommends choosing the 2016 when comparing similarly priced vintages. - Decanter
94 Points! Very attractive, earthy aromas with an array of herbal and leafy notes, as well as a dark-berry thread and earthy complexity. The palate has great depth and drive with a bright array of juicy red and darker berries. Plush, ripe tannins. Try from 2022. - James Suckling
93 Points! Also terrific, the 2016 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is in the same league as the 2015 and offers a perfectly balanced, medium to full-bodied style as well as complex notes of red and black fruits, smoke tobacco, incense, and cedar. It picks up a Graves-induced cold fireplace note as it sits in the glass, and again, is a beautifully balanced, layered 2016 that has loads of character. Give bottles a few years and enjoy over the following 15+. - Jeb Dunnuck
92 Points! The 2016 Larrivet Haut-Brion is one of the sleepers of the vintage. Iron, cedar, blood orange, chalk and smoke give the 2016 an incredibly expressive upper register of aromatic depth to match its distinctly feral personality. What a gorgeous wine this is. The 2016 spent 16-18 months in barrel, 33% new. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
92 Points! Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Larrivet Haut-Brion reveals a beguiling, earthy/truffle-laced nose with notions of crushed rocks, tilled soil, fungi and mossy bark over a core of warm cassis and blackberry compote. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly crafted with soft, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with a quiet intensity of savory nuances. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
In the Graves, the only Bordeaux appellation renowned for both reds and dry whites. Gravelly soils yield smoky, mineral reds and age-worthy Sauvignon-Semillon blends.
2016 in Bordeaux is a benchmark vintage: a wet spring gave way to a dry, sunny summer, producing fresh, deeply aromatic wines with ripe tannins, remarkable balance and excellent long-term aging potential.
A blend of the classic Bordeaux red varieties - typically Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, often with Petit Verdot and Malbec - balancing structure, fruit and aromatic complexity. The template for age-worthy reds in Bordeaux and worldwide.
