“(The only one of these 2000s aged in Dominique Laurent's magic casks; bottled four days before my visit.) Bright medium ruby, less saturated than the Cornas Vieilles Vignes. Pure, complex aromas of cassis, gunflint, licorice, espresso and bitter chocolate, with a touch of new oak showing. Very ripe but withdrawn, and less expressive today than the Cornas. But aristocratic and very intensely flavored. Slow-building, very long finish features strong but smooth tannins.”
