91 WA "The 2004 Coteaux du Loir Le Rouge Gorge smells of ripe cherries with rose petal, bitter cherry pits and Oolong tea notes. Wonderfully vibrant and juicy in the mouth with tart yet ripe cherry allied to rhubarb and accented with fruit pits, floral perfume, and white pepper, I might have guessed it blind to be a really top-notch Austrian Zweigelt. Bright and energetic, with its bitter element nicely setting off its sappy generosity of fruit and complementing its sweet florality, this wine is a versatile joy to drink as well as a compelling candidate for service in a brown paper bag."
