"Gooseberry, mint, sage and struck flint pungency lend the 2008 Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling feinherb as Pouilly-Fume-like a nose as I have ever encountered in the Ruwer. A nettle-like brightness backed by gooseberry and fresh lime make for delightful invigoration, with the level of residual sweetness here perfectly supportive and not engendering the least sense of a split personality. A satisfying sense of underlying stuffing no doubt helps in knitting-together the flavors, and this is quite plush compared with the spare sense that accrues to most of its dry and off-dry stable mates. Salts and nut oils combine with the smoky pungency and tart berry refreshment in an energetic finish."

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A highly aromatic white of piercing acidity and transparency to terroir, ranging from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. It ages remarkably and is the noble grape of Germany and Alsace.
